Had a long weekend stay here in the lush Portuguese countryside. Spacious, well equipped and very comfy bell tents awaited us waking to the sounds of birdsong was amazing. Showers and utilities were clean with plenty of hot water and not too far away by the main house.. Breakfast of bread, homemade mueslis and preserves was served on the threshing circle overlooking the valley. If it’s too hot, or if you are very unlucky, wet. There’s a gazebo to shelter under. Idyllic. Exploring the local area was great – you will need a car it’s pretty out of the way (thank god!) and we enjoyed Coimbra, and the amazing waves and beaches at Nazaré – biggest waves in the world. Santiago da Guarda is the nearest town (5 mins drive) and we enjoyed the traditional festa on the Saturday night – quite bizarre! Your hosts, Dave and Ali, leave you to get on with relaxing but are always on hand should you need any help, info, or local knowledge. Dolittle Holidays is a thoroughly relaxing rural idyll. Flop in a deckchair surrounded by olive trees, cork oaks and wild flowers. Nod off to the sounds of the birds and the bees. Awaken to the tolling of a distant church bell.
